Kristoffel Dark is a top-fermented dark-coloured beer, brewed with specially selected roasted and coloured barley malt varieties. The beer has a full body, a rich aroma with roasted malt, caramel and coffee notes. The use of aromatic hop varieties provides the beer with a gentle hop bitterness. The beer has a slightly sweet, coffee-like aftertaste.

From the Aldi beer advent calendar. Looks the part of a Belgian brown, but the head dissipates way too quick. Fizzy not foamy. Smells of clove and banana, similar to a Weizen. Some cocoa aroma beneath that. Flavor is much slighter than the aroma, with musty and cardboard dominating. Mouthfeel also poor, overall not enjoyable.

From the bottle from the 2020 and 2021 Aldi Beer Advent Calendar, it pours a clear ruby brown with a nice light tan head that lasts. In the nose, it is caramel malts and roasted malts, in the mouth it is lightly flavored with caramel malt and some roast coming through.

33 cl bottle in and from Zadar, Croatia. 6% ABV, BB date stamp: 31 Jan. 2020.
Pours, as expected, with a clear, very dark reddish-brown body topped by a semi-durable beige head.
While the aroma approaches 4.25, the flavor is a bit disappointing and the mouthfeel is too thin.
Overall: a good version of the style but lacking the richness and harmony of the best versions.
