This was poured into a lager glass. The appearance was a semi-hazy burnt amber color with a slight transparency about it. A two finger white foamy head dissipated within less than a minute. Clingy foamy lacing stuck nicely around the glass. The smell started off with sweet to grassy bready to biscuit-ness. Herbal, caramel and slight toffee flavors weave into the balance of the beer. The taste was moderately sweet with the herbal and caramel flavors melding into the balance. A semi-sticky sweet aftertaste leads into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation runs light allowing the stickiness of the malts to cling to my tongue. Overall, it works as an Amber or Vienna lager. I’d have again.

Mmm… Good steam beer. The grain bill is on display here with a strong malt backbone. Great head, clarity, and color. Not very hoppy… I don't expect a steam beer to be super hoppy though. I'd say well-balanced overall. Good job Simple Roots!
