This bier is made exclusively for the Cafe de Grendelpoort in Valkenburg, Netherlands. I had a 0.25l draft serving for €3.50. The owner said it was made using "apple syrup and a Calvados Infusion". Ok....
It was served in its own, unique glass and holder. The tulip had a stem but no base; it sat in a small, ceramic "well" with a hole for the stem. Interesting... It was a deep, clear ruby/garnet color. Had a short, creamy, light tan head and excellent lacing. Nose was mild but candi sugar and apple were discerned. It was a little less than medium for body, yet quite smooth and prickle-free.
Tasted of light sweetness with a bit of dark fruit. Had subtle apple, but as far as the Calvados goes, couldn't tell. Candi sugar was noted here as well, giving me the impression of a very dry Dubbel. Unsure why it's called a "Bok". A rather simple, uninspiring offering, in all honesty. Prosit!
