The beer poured into the fingerprinted and water spotted glass by dimly lit oil lamp in the spooky Velootje some color that was not able to be determined other than dark. The best guess at a color would be dark brown. The head was low and tan but lasted enough to lace the dirty glass.

The aroma was deeply malty with some dark fruits of raisins and prunes and with a strong dark caramel and light Belgian yeast spice presence.

The flavor was dark caramel and deeply malty with dark fruits of raisins and prunes with a Belgian yeast spice. A chocolate presence was notable.

The finish was dry with a light caramel and chocolate and Belgian yeast spice into the aftertaste. The body was medium with a moderate carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. A darn nice beer.

Bottle at t' Velootje in Gent served in a dirty glass from some other brewery on 9/15/06. Lieven at Velootje offered this by asking "Would you like the special beer?" which was enough to make your skin crawl as you first walk into the "establishment".

BB 29-06-06. Melse Koekoek poors in ok and leaves a nice lasting but not overwelming head. Beercollor is dark brown and hard to see if there is haze but I presume. Nose is fresh dark cherries in a caramellic haysause. Some roasty hint and litle soapy. Not bad but quiet strange nose.
Taste is very alcoholic for 6.4 %ABV further good caramel, cheries and a strong bitterness in the back. Yes this is enjoyable and good with full mouthfeel that's balanced as the carbondioxide level is that is quiet high but makes it fresher. One I wouldn't mind seeing again in near future.
