Beer bottle (33cl.), tasted in 2008.

Appearance : amber/orange color, with white foam head (lacing).
Smell : spicy and herbal aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : sweetness, very spicy after taste.
Drinkability : a special beer combining the Belgian style (Herbed/spiced) with natural manuka leaves (usually used as aromatic tea in New Zealand forests).

History :
In 1769, Captain James Cook visit and explore New Zealand. He described the Manuka plant as a 'tea plant'.
Cook wrote: "...the leaves are used by many of us as a hot drink which has a very agreeable bitter taste and flavour when fresh or dried".

An amber, brown beer with a big bubbly but creamy head.

Smell of solvent and higher alcohols. Malt is a little dextrinous and there are spicy and fruity notes of what appears to be coriander and lemongrass. This must be the manuka spice.

Taste is fresh. The spice taste like menthol or green tea with lemon. Quite nice. The solvent and higher alcohols are there, but blend in well with the spice. A light caramalt body that is a little sticky. Drinkability is good.
This beer is a different take on a Belgian pale ale, by ading the manuka the beer gets a fresh twist that works wonderfully well.

Beer made with manuka, a new zealand spice (leaves).
Deep amber color, a light foam, quite beautiful, not too persistent.
The smell is very fresh, herbal, absolutely pleasant.
Fresh in the taste too, again with herbal notes, fresh, on a malty base.
Pleasant.
Not bad, and interesting.
