Aroma is dark fruit//grapes and an astringent/alcoholic hint. The flavor is dark fruit/grapes, mild tobacco, malts/wheat, Belgian yeast and a mix of tart and warming alcohol in the finish.

Enjoyed from the big bottle in a Delirium Tremens snifter, this one pours a thick mahogany brown with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates to a very thin layer and very light lacing. Nose of chocolate and banana, fresh bread, and some tart pie cherries. Flavors are very complex. Banana and chocolate to the back, sweet malts mingle to the sides with a fresh sweet bread like character. Some tart cherry flavors come through on the aftertaste with a light does of fig and delicious Belgian yeasty goodness with a light peppery spice. Excellent hybrid from an excellent brewer.

08/11/11 Company claims: Imperial Amber Wheat Ale Deep amber/chestnut color with an off-white head. Roasty & chocolaty aromas with a hint of spice. Lightly roasty notes on a soft palate. Wheat lightens the body and clove-like spice notes are present on the finish. Exellent with smoked foods.
As for me, I found it to be like a black and tan with a porter and a wheat beer.

a very strange beer indeed, dubbed an imperial amber wheat, there is nothing amber about it. its a chocolate milk colored brew, with a ton of yeast in suspension and an average khaki head. its got notes of holiday spices, fresh baked breakfast rolls, chocolate cereal, and belgian fruity yeast. its complex as anything, but i never really get amber from it. its way darker and richer from the outset, and surprisingly not the least bit sweet either. a furious amount of malt in here, wheaty and thick on the palate, even with pretty good carbonation. chocolate dipped frozen banana and wit yeast come are there, but so is a much more reserved bakers flour complexion, bready and doughy and filling. its a hard beer to explain because it touches to many brewing traditions and styles. its not my favorite brew out there, but its a new interpretation for a belgian brewer, and like most stuff from these guys, is extremely unique. i appreciate the innovation, but im not sure i would choose this again. worth a try though for sure.

Witte Noire
LOOK: Pours a dark amber with an off white soapy foam and leaves behind a solid sheet of lace.
SMELL: Chocolates and raisin comes through initially with a waft of alcohol. Belgian yeast and a touch of mineral.
TASTE: Once again powdery chocolate upfront, mild tart and fruity Belgian yeast character. Nutty with big time caramelized malt and molasses flavor. Light peppery spice. A touch of fresh cherry acidity. Fig and plum are also present. Towards the end of the bottle it was like some chocolate syrup candy drink. I like this ale, it has character and ample complexity.
FEEL: Full bodied, smooth, creamy with a chocolate toffee flavor lingering in the finish. This beer is rich.
OVERALL: What do you get when you mix dark roasted malts, wheat, semi wild Belgian yeast and careful crafting? You get this gem. The best way I can describe this beer would be a cross between an authentic German Doppelbock and a rustic Belgian Saison.
