a bit more spicier, or broon, than i prefer.... almost root-beer-ish.... it's okay. it's not bad. it's actuall.y pretty good, but it's not helping coming in between julius and heady topper, etc..... hard to fairly evaluate it between two IPAs. but trying to be fair and just and provide good criticism....

Got a growler at the brewery. Hand pulled. Very traditional style, almost no foam. Taste was complex, toasty. In all a good beer.

On nitro tap at San Fernando Brewing Company in San Fernando, CA.
Pours a clear dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, roasted nut, and earth aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, caramel, nut, and cocoa powder flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of toast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a smooth, creamy, and slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice mix of toast, caramel, and nut qualities all around.
Serving type: on nitro tap.
