On cask at MacLeod Ale Brewing Company in Van Nuys, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of roasted malt, roasted nut, and slight cocoa aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, nut, and slight char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with solid aromas, but the flavors I am getting from this one are much better in my opinion.
Serving type: on cask.
