On cask at MacLeod Ale Brewing Company in Van Nuys, CA.
Pours a clear crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Thick swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and nut aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, caramel, earth, and slight nut flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of toast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice mix of toast and earth qualities all around.
