On cask for Cask & Ye Shall Receive held at MacLeod Ale Brewing Company in Van Nuys, CA.
Pours an almost opaque brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, cocoa powder, and caramel aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, caramel, toffee, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of toast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and smooth mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a great mix of toast, caramel, and toffee qualities that are better in the smell to me.
