Fifth Street is in a small Victorian house that was a cafe for decades. It's well lit and has a solid menu of both beer and food. There's a outdoor patio for summer months. There's also a small parking lot and plenty of street parking. A laid back, friendly place. One of Dayton's best.

Like visiting someone's house for a beer, where they started brewing and opened a taproom! Cool vibe and great beer, friendly folks keeping the place rolling.

I visited this brewpub while in Dayton on business. It was in an attractive Victorian house with a beer garden outside and a separate building that housed the production equipment. It was located in a nice, artsy, old neighborhood that seemed to have lots of culture and happenings. The main room had a long wooden and brass bar that seemed appropriate for the house. The rest of the downstairs was taken up by a large seating and dining area, leading to the outdoor beer garden with picnic tables. On a warm, early spring afternoon, this was a great place to enjoy beer and finger food.
The brewpub had a kitchen with a simple food menu. Some in my party got appetizers and were happy with them, but I can't comment on the food beyond that. The staff was friendly, efficient, and proud of their beer. Interestingly, they explained that the brewpub is run as a co-op, with employee owners. It certainly seemed to give them enthusiasm for their product.
The bar had about 10 taps of their own beer, plus a few bottles and guest beers. The styles when I visited ran from IPAs to stout to imperial red, and even non-alcoholic types like hop water. All the beers I tried were tasty and well-made. All-in-all, I strongly recommend this brewpub for its laid-back vibe, good beers and great staff. Downtown Dayton has quite a few choices for craft beer these days, but this is one that it worth checking out.

Place is a co-op, so all employees take more of an interest in providing excellent service. Not a huge menu, but does offer enough choices for just about everyone. Prices are reasonable, place is clean. I had a brown ale that was tasty. Will patronize again.

Neighborhood brewery with a bar and kitchen. Nice, modest size building with some parking in the rear. Good looking food and menu but I didn't try any yet.
All beers tried were very good. They have 10-11 taps with a few guest taps included. Friendly but rather lackadaisical service. Inattentive service with a server who knew there were discrepancies between the printed menu he handed me and the actual beers on tap but who hadn't bothered to learn what these were. Most beers available to small and large(r) pours, and all house beers can be ordered in 3- or 5-beer flights.

Fantasist outside sitting area with tons on picnic tables. Great assortment of beer types. Great options in food as well. Staff helps out really well too.

A nice taproom, with some decent beer selection. They are really involved with the community, which I always appreciate. This place hits kind of in the middle of the pack, as far as Dayton breweries go. It's a great spot for lunch if you're checking the local breweries that are pretty close by.

Visited on an early Friday afternoon. Had a friend who knew the brewing staff so I got a bit of an extra tour that most people don't get.
Vibe: A neat small joint. Nice bar right as you walk in, simple but clean and lit just right general seating area. A bit small. Some outdoor places to sit as well but not in the shade. Struck me very much as a neighborhood joint, and that fit to some extent because this is nestled directly in a neighborhood. Probably the closest thing to an actual neighborhood bar/pub you would have in Dayton. Further, this beer is a co-op meaning they let you buy "shares" in the place and in return you get perks when you come back to the bar (cheaper beer, larger beer, invites to special events, discounts on food, etc.). See the website for details. I also got to see the brewhouse and the cooler where some of the beer tanks are kept so that beer goes directly from the tank (7 barrel tanks) to the tap.
Quality: I only sampled two of the brewpub beers, and both were pretty good. 12 taps total - 6 of the brewpub, 1 local Dayton beers, 1 import, and 4 other craft beers.
Service: Not a lot of people there, but we didn't have to wait long, plus since my friend knew one of the brewpub staff I probably got extra good attention. The server offered samples if we were not sure what to try, and brought waters without having to ask.
Selection: Only 12 taps. I did not see a bottle list anywhere so I'm guessing the bottle list is small or non-existent. More of an emphasis on what is available on tap than anything else.
Food: Only had the appetizers and the pretzel balls with the chile cheese sauce were quite good.
Overall - if I lived nearby I definitely would have bought a share and come often. Otherwise it's a bit out of the way for me, but worth a trip. I'll have to come back.

Stop #474 on my world brewery tour.
Around 3 on Friday afternoon in mid March. Mostly residential area and the place was at one point a house which gave it a cozy vibe.
Had all beers via two flights. Liked that they did a Kolsch which was pretty good. Brown was nice and roasty. Pale really not hoppy and the IPA was too sweet. A couple other quality craft guest taps available.
Wasn't that busy and the bartender didn't speak to me. Mostly locals in at this point and people seemed to know one another.
