Coal-black body topped with a fairly dense and creamy light khaki head. Fine smell blend featuring elements of chocolate, coffee, and a touch of bourbon; roasted grain; esters, kink of like cherry or strawberry. Big roasted grain malt and coffee flavors with an even bigger bourbon presence; cocoa and milk chocolate. Heavy body; silky; plenty of alcohol heat.
The bourbon barrel aging is rather aggressive hear and somewhat overpowers the base beer, especially with the taste (and, arguably the mouthfeel). Still, one can't complain about the rich, lasting head on such a high ABV beer, and the smell is intriguing. Worth checking out.
