Rather cloud, deep mahogany colored body; fairly dense, slow-rising carbonation; thick, soapy head; some spongy stickiness clinging to the inside of the glass. Big caramel sweetness nose with suggestions of figs and raisins; mild spiciness; a touch of whiskey. The taste mimics the smell; big, spicy sweetness with a pungent bitterness; dates and raisins. Heavy body yet seems a tad weak for the style; slick; some boozy dryness cuts through the residual sugar heaviness.
A generally good barrel aged barleywine that lacks a bit in depth and complexity yet still lets you know the style you're sipping on.
Pouring temperature: 41 °F; canning info: CANNED ON 01/12/23
