With a near-black ruby-mahogany color, it has an interesting light malt and slightly musty aroma, with a light coffee and roasted milk chocolate taste. The overall flavors compliment the watery mouthfeel of the beer, albeit that’s unusual for a stout. Even though it is a good stout offering, I recommend the Old Goat’s Oatmeal Stout from San Marcos Brewing Company, the P.M. Porter from BJ’s and even the Stockyard Stout from Trader Joe’s. When Goose Island brings back the Oatmeal Stout, I will recommend that too!!

L: Solid black with a head that never dissipates.
S: Good. Typical stout smell. Not much else.
T: Roasty coffee and chocolate. Nothing fancy, a clean and simple stout.
F: Medium carbonation and slightly creamy.
O: A great stout for people new to stouts or who prefer beers with no frills. Its basic and nonthreatening.

16oz can into a goblet at fridge temp.
Look: dark brown, like a good cup of strong, dark roast coffee, with a moderate tan head that never totally dissipates.
Smell: milk chocolate, cherries, vanilla, coffee.
Taste: milk chocolate, coffee, piney hops, a bit of metallic bite, almond.
Feel: pretty thin, though not surprisingly so given the abv.
Overall: not a world-beater, but totally respectable and enjoyable. And at $1.38 for a 16oz can, a damn good value.

This pours a dark roasty cola color with creamy cocoa colored foam. There's a light roasty aroma with a big roasty flavor. I get a dark coffee and sharp bitterness from the hops that gives it a nice kick. For what it is it's decent.

Nice dark roasted stout with a nice 2inch head, pouring from can.
Not much smell jumpin out of glass slight coffee/cocoa.
Really nice taste, roasted grain, more cocoa, almost sweet but bitter enough. The body is a lil thin especially since its 6%alc.
if you see this at Trader Joes grab it, can't beat the price, I'd totally have s couple early on Saturday/Sunday during football season, breakfast of champions!!

Looks like your run of the mill stout..black with a khaki head...smells like a touch of coffee and touch of chocolate..taste follows the nose coffee and dark chocolate being the dominate flavors..mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied..overall great value for 5.50 and a good tasting beer..a solid B

Packaged on 5/19/15.
Pours an almost opaque crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, cookie dough, and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid cocoa and char characteristics that are slightly better in the smell to me.
Serving type: can.

Appearance: Pours like 10W30 with a good head of foam and decent lacing.
Smell: Roasted malts, cocoa.
Taste: Roasted malts, cocoa.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and creamy. Slightly bitter chocolate aftertaste.
The Verdict: I like it. Not very complex, but it’s still a good solid stout with good flavor. Made by LA’s Golden Road Brewing for Trader Joe’s.
