On tap:
Pours a dark amber that easily could be easily be mistaken for a light English brown ale. Head fades to a thin ring but is easily revived.
Nose is a tad caramel sweet with hints of pitted fruit and fermenting grapes. I’d like a bit more distinctly bready note here.
Taste brings a bit of bread in, once the beer warms slightly. The depth of the anticipated flavor isn’t much, but it is noted. Caramel malt notes and a perhaos woody bitterness to offer up a scant defense. A bit of dark red wine grape or plum sneaks in, too.
I found this beer just a tad thick with its sweetness, bordering on but not crossing the threshold of distracting. I expected more from this brewery on this style, and ends up being a fair offering in my opinion.
