The fine and dense head got smooth and aired and it lasted nicely on the hazy and active golden color body. The smell isnt very expressive. A bit pilsner-like maybe, with some yeasty notes of cake and hints of anchovies. The taste is kind of bland too. Slightly fruity, with some lightly doughy graininess; maybe a very light hint of pine and honey, light salty notes of seltzer water, but mostly a harsh and pretty thick and chewy hoppiness in the finish that dries the mouth and makes me not want another bottle of this beer. Disappointing after having tried their stout. Not bad beer per se, but quite plain and uninteresting.

Brasserie Redange: Okult No. 3 Blonde.
Strength: 5.4% ABV.
Style: Unfiltered Pale Ale (Organic).
33cl Curved Flute Serving Glass.
Tasted on Draft at the Brasserie Artisanale de Redange BrewPub on 19th April 2003, during a Brewery Visit.
Appearance: A very slight hazy appearance does not detract from this Blonde. The head is a frothy white mass at first, but it soon hardens to a crusty stiff egg-white gathering that sticks to the side of the glass. A nice looking unfiltered Pale Ale. A slightly darker than normal Blonde.
Smell: Again, an earthy aroma pervades the nose. Light on smells, some malt and a light spicy hint are detectable.
Taste: It was very easy to get to grips with this one. A Pale Ale that starts crisply, but that exhibits a slightly yeasty flavor, mainly due to the fact that it is unfiltered probably. At first, it was just nice to have this beer wash down the Okult No.2 Rousse. Then I was able to taste the beer properly. A clean tasting Pale Ale, with hints of yeast throughout, but these are somewhat masked by the Pilsner Malt in the middle. Finishes as clean as it starts.
Mouthfeel: Not much happens in the mouth apart from a yeasty character that coats the tongue.
Drinkability: Easy to drink, it should be, the Brewer at the Redange refuses to make a bland Euro-Pils. So he is attempting to wean his Pils regulars onto the Blonde, they have no other choice really, if they want to keep coming here. Clean, crisp and easily dispatched.
Overall: A transient session beer that walks a tightrope. It attempts to be attractive to Euro-Pils drinkers, so it is inoffensive, yet it retains enough character and taste to avoid being labeled a bland beer by those in the know. As time goes by, and his Pils converts get accustomed to it, it may change and increase in taste the Brewer stated. Lets hope so.
