Poured from a 375ml can, gold amber in colour, short white head quickly disappears, floral fruity aroma , low carbonation, slightly cloudy, taste is very dry, fruity flavours, metallic after taste, low bitterness. Not bad, relatively clean tasting beer with no long lasting bitterness.

Duff beer for me, Duff beer for you, I’ll have a Duff, you have one too - yes indeed it is a shamelessly licenced version of that famous fictional beer from the long running TV series: The Simpsons. This is probably the ninth version to bear the name and I’m honestly not looking forward to it as I suspect Homer Simpson and Barney Gumble are macro lager drinkers but here goes.

Poured from a 355ml can into a nonic pint.

A: Certainly looks like every other cheap macro lager with a clear golden body and a white head that fizzles away to nothing... yay.

S: A combination of various adjunct grains, cut grass and vegetal matter. It’s right in the ball park for cheap macro swill and compares accurately to Tooheys and Carlton United beers, again no surprises.

T: At least it doesn’t taste as bad as Tooheys New or Victoria Bitter. Yes it is a cheap macro lager with grassy hops faintly lingering over a corn syrup malt base, but there is a touch of sweetness in the middle and there is a teensy tiny bitterness in the finish. Also noted is that classic unwanted metallic twang that accompanies most canned macro lagers.

M: Watery and overly fizzy... the body is too light and the carbonation is too gassy, again it sits in macro lager territory.

D: This is a shameless rip off endorsed by Fox - the most shameless TV corporation in the world - so it’s hardly a surprise this beer is subpar. How does it stack up with the competition then? It’s not as shit as Tooheys or VB, but it’s not as good as other macros like Tsingtao or Budweiser, it is somewhere in between... that said the gassiness of this brew began to annoy me though - f**ken macro lagers!

Food match: This is a giant pretzel beer. Also I could see it pairing with a shamelessly endorsed by Fox Krusty Burger - I’m actually surprised Fox hasn’t endorsed any further Simpsons rip offs.
