Dark amber with an off-white, 2 finger head and lots of lacing. Appealing spicy smell and taste from the rye and some well selected hops, and a good malty backbone. Nicely balanced. Smooth, velvety feel with a medium body. A good choice for the cooler weather.

I have to admit, I had my doubts when I saw this rye IPA come out all copper colored. It looked like there would be too much crystal malt to taste the rye, and too much grain in general for the hops to really deliver, but I was wrong on both counts, and this is further proof that you cannot judge a beer by its appearance. For all its color, there really is little to no sweetness in here, and the rye malt is very prominent in nose and taste, spicy and drying, summery and rustic, very nice in a dome what overly refined IPA. The hops show me grapefruit first, then orange zest, finally bitter rindy citrus, lots of alpha acid and IBUs. More body than it really needs, but I like the richer feel with the dryness. Carbonation lags just a little bit. Great freshness to the hops here, and a balanced but well defined rye malt flavor. Surprised these guys don't get more love from the locals, all their beers were pretty much on point. Very drinkable for the style, and a solid rye IPA overall. Maybe a tad safe, but well done.

Pours a cloudy copper colour. Smells like grapefruit, earthy grains, clean and crisp. Tastes like bitter hops, grapefruit, citrus, earthy grains at the finish, but crisp and refreshing, even at 6.5%

A: Brown, finger of head and laced the glass nicely. As see through as that shade can be, not hazy that I can tell.
S: Pine, grapefruit hops, spiciness, bready malts
T: Bitterness upfront, grapefruit, grapefruit rind, finishes with some rye bitterness in the aftertaste
M: Medium in mouthfeel, biting carbonation, finishes up dry
O: Good rye IPA, very solid choice.
