From a growler, from the brewery. A strawberry-rhubarb cream ale? Hmmmm??? It may sound odd, but it works. : )
Pours a cloudy pinkish-yellow, similar to the color of homemade applesauce(skin-on) , or rhubarb pie filling (again, homemade, from scratch. ) Creamy, very finely-textured , white head, leaving a 1/4" ring.
Aroma is wet, fruity, pie crust, as what you would get from the inside of a piece of pie crust. (& this may be power of suggestion, but I THINK is accurate. ;) ) Tangy/sour strawberry + rhubarb, as expected.
Flavor follows nose, but with a greater proportion to the fruit. That is, pie crust, followed by slightly tart (light touch of rhubarb), dried strawberry, and the lightest touch of hop bitterness on the finish.
Feel is moderate substance, very smooth & creamy, with a late touch of very fine carbonation prickle, on the tip of the tongue.
At first, my impression was "OK but nothing special", then it grew on me as it warmed, & I got into the second glass. It's like strawberry/rhubarb pie , in a glass. Drier/less-sweet than actual pie though, which is a plus for beer. This one is subtle, and not in the "smack-you-upside-the-head-with-flavor" vein. I really like it, and would be glad to have it anytime.
