Clear, pale golden straw (SRM 2-3). Cascading carbonation is brief yet produced two inches of white cream that lasts several minutes. The head completely dissipates to leave no lacing on a Simpli Stange glass.
Both brine and leather are strong. Surprisingly, there is a caramel quality. Otherwise, the aroma is reminiscent of dirty gym socks.
Moderate tartness with low sourness combines with moderate sweetness and faint bitterness. Salty brine is far below what was expected from the aroma. There is a perception of cucumber just before a lengthy, non-descript finish.
Alcohol is below expectations against a dry finish. A medium body with rough nylon texture.
While this is a decent beer, it is far from the style guidelines even as an innovative interpretation. It does have qualities of the style and I'm not sure where it really fits.
