From a (32oz)growler , filled at the brewery, two days ago.
Clear orange with a slight purple tint. Light, quickly-dissipating white head.
Smell is lactic sourness, light funk (old, well-composted manure) , red grape, and a hint of oak tannin.
Taste is light spiciness, grape, moderate funk - stronger than the aroma, and light sourness. Moderate bitterness and drying barrel tannin at finish and lingering awhile. No noticeable alcohol.
Feel is smooth, and surprisingly light for the abv, with very fine carbonation tingle . No alcohol heat, but halfway through it, my head can feel the abv. :)
Overall, this has little in common with the base beer, but once that is realized, it is good in its own right. Worth a try, if you like wild ales.
