Brewed for GABS festival in Melbourne, May 2014. Tried there on tap.
Pours a nice golden colour with white foamy head that doesn't stick around. Nice colour, but fairly unexciting.
Smells extremely fruity. Lots of citra hops on that giving mango, passionfruit, pineapple and tangerine. Very sticky, fruity notes and lots of them. Could maybe use more edge but it's pleasant.
Taste follows very much in the footsteps of the aroma. Lots and lots of citra on there, with chewy mango, passionfruit and pineapple. Tropical and pleasant and just bursting with flavour. Really not very bitter at all; all the hopping is late stuff so it comes through early and tangy, although has enough there to just fade out cleanly. It's not a bad thing as far as I'm concerned that it's not hugely bitter, but I can see people feeling a bit ripped off.
Full body, fair bit of alcohol on the back, but not too sharp. It's unavoidable really.
For 9.1% I'm impressed with the drinkability. Quite a pleasant drop, really, although if you're looking for mouth-tearing bitterness look elsewhere.
