We dedicated this beer to Paul Nudd’s mural in our brewhouse. The addition of guava blends beautifully with the tartness and fermentation profile of our house yeast and bacteria, creating an incredibly drinkable and refreshingly well-balanced tart beer.

Split a can (from Sarah?). Poured into pint glass. Looks like Bud Light, smells farmhousey. Not bad for a sour.

Not a particularly attractive beer. Murky, rusty orange with not much head. Guava comes through on the nose, and the beer emits nice, sour / wild aroma. Taste largely follows the nose. Tart, guava flavors. Not much in the way of carbonation, but pretty smooth going down. Solid, easy drinking beer.

Brewed in honor of the new brewhouse mural by Chicago artist Paul Nudd.
Pale gold, slight haze, ample foam, arcs of lacing in the glass.
Tropical guava in the aroma, balanced and juicy, not overly acidic.
Tart and tangy, big guava presence, supple tropical juice character.
Puckering and dry finish, light bodied, lacto tartness.
Overall it’s nice and well balanced.

Tasted in a Rastal Teku from a 12 fl oz can on June 25, 2018. Bubbly Kriek without the cherry. A very nice representation of the Berliner Weisse style.

an interesting brew right here, a pink guava based sour thats sort of built like a berliner, but a littler stronger than most and with a light wild funk to it, not just lacto, at least to my senses. its really summery and tasty, quite acidic, but refreshing, and the guava is natural and sweet for balance, a cool recipe and well executed like all of the marz brews. its a little flat looking in the glass, softly hazy but without much head or shine. aroma is lactic first, wheaty second, and fruity third, with a tropical punch sort of complexion from the guava and a little funkiness too, mouthwatering for sure. the flavor is just like the nose, lots of fruit in this, lots of acid, and an oddly dry and snappy finish for what it is. the guava is ripe and juicy and distinct, so often it with things like passion fruit and pineapple which overtake it in a beer, but on its own its amazing here. a nice contrast to all the bacterial tartness. some nice body to this, but it needs more carbonation, this needs to sing on the palate and it doesnt come close. that said, i love it aside from that, and reckon this base would be killer for a whole range of fruits, white grapes, peaches, even rhubarb come to mind! i have been loving marz lately!
