This brewery is located in the quaint small town of Saxapahaw, along the Haw River, which provides hiking and other recreation options. The brewery itself is located in an old mill building beneath a popular restaurant, The Eddy. The taproom is small and atmospheric and the servers are friendly. The beers are esoteric with lots of farmhouse and other relatively obscure styles and the quality is excellent. You can make your own mixed packs. While the vibe is laid back it's a very fun brewery to visit. I suggest you spend a couple of hours hiking along the Haw River and then stopping in for some first rate ale.

I really wish this place opened a little earlier in the day as they are conveniently located by a really nice park and several decent hiking trails but they were definitely worth the wait to visit. It is a small spot at the end of an old converted mill with a small inside bar area where you order or sit an enjoy a beer as well as a small to medium sized outside area with tables. I stayed in the outside area as it was a beautiful spring day and there is a really nice view. The inside has a rustic/old mill kind of feeling and you can see the brewing area as well.
Beers were really well poured at the proper temperature with a reasonable amount of head and in proper glassware for the style.
Service was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the beers as well as getting the chance to chat with the brewer as well.
Even though they only had about 12 taps and a half dozen bottles, they had a pretty wide range of styles available. Everything from an IPA, several farmhouse styles, several wild/sour styles, and a stout.

Stopped by on a Thursday afternoon right after they opened great selection I think they had 10 beers on draft and many great bottles. The place is kind of small but the staff is very friendly and does not make you wait. Beers are very good the beers I tried were all small batch limited brew and were amazing. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Kick ass neat spot a short drive from the Chapel Hill area. Charming AF. The tap room is tiny and was overflowing the Sunday I dropped by, but the vibe was great and the folks behind the bar were busy but attentive. You could knock them for being a bit out of the way, but when it's done this well? Killer space in a tiny town that's definitely doing its own thing. What you can't knock them for is beer. Wonderful selection of well conceived brews. I look forward to doing it again.

This is a really cool taproom to visit and even though it is a bit out of the way, if you're interested in their beer I would definitely stop by. The negative I have is that some of the staff are rude and try to rush you out when they get busy. Good beer, bad tasting room staff.

This was a fun, out of the way stop. The small taproom sits in front of the brewing equipment and has an industrial feel, even though it's part of a large shopping complex (not a shopping center though - it's got an old, main street type feel). Usually 8-10 beers on draft with a focus on Belgian styles, although an IPA or two can usually be found. Service can be a little slow, but the bartenders are inevitably friendly and offer suggestions if you ask.
Definitely seems like a hit with the locals - usually small children/babies are there, and fortunately for me, they are dog-friendly as well. Overall, I think it's a great spot in a charming location with some solid beers to try.

Some friends and I stopped by on Saturday 3/7/15 on our trip through central NC breweries. I didn't expect this place to be as small as it was: 8-10 bar stools, a windowsill to sit on and a make shift patio that was big enough for 3-4 people. It's on the bottom floor of a multi-level building right on the Haw River (duh).
It was standing room only and service was kind of slow, but that was kind of expected once we walked in. We got 2 flights of 4 beers that none of us had tried along with a pint of the NoHoldsie beer. The dark sour, Major Arcana, was the best beer of the stop but there were several tasty offerings too.
Overall, it's a cool little place- EMPHASIS ON LITTLE- and I really hope they can expand on their taproom size based on the success of their beer lineup. Check 'em out because they're worth the detour off the beaten NC brewery path.

Wonderfully done! a hidden gem with only a few seats at a tiny handcrafted bar. you will most likely meet one or more of the owner/brewers and find their knowledge and enthusiasm welcoming and refreshing. a lovely place with a cool selection, nothing you were expecting, and yet unforgettable. Go!

Haw River Farmhouse Ales has some really great beers. I tried most of what they had on tap at the grand opening (10 beers I think) and everyone of them were either good, great or knocked my socks off. I got to talk with the head brewer quite a bit as he showed us around and he has some cool stuff in the works. I would watch for this brewery to really take off in the next few years. If you have a chance to grab any of there beers jump on it. Especially the St Benedict's Breakfast Dubbel.
