Taster at the source.
Deep golden color with a decent bubbly off white head. Rich light caramel maltiness with hints of toasted bread and lots of citrus, orange, marmalade type flavors to counter. Pretty nice sipper.

2016 batch on tap at the brewery. Sampled on September 17, 2016.
The color of the pour is a murky looking amber brown with a modest off-white head.
Sweet barley grain and barley malt notes all around with no alcohol t speak of for over 9% ABV. Low citrus hop profile.
Medium to full body that is smooth and comfortable on the palate.
Same notable sweet toasty barley malt character leads the way in the taste and there is the slightest citrus zing behind it all. Alcohol beautifully integrated. Clean finish.

I had a 4oz sample today at FtB and liked it enough to get a 32oz squealer ($10) for later... Well, later is now! One of the gents at FtB said it is sort of a hybrid; malty like an English BW but they "dry-hopped the shit out of it with Citra"....
Poured some into a small tulip to start... It's a tawny, russet brown color, and quite hazy. The head is thin, off-white and fine. Has some lace , but not a whole lot. Nose is an interesting combo of some caramel and molasses mingling with pithy citrus. Body is medium, and it is pretty smooth on the tongue, all in all.
Flavor? Well, there is some sweetness present, with a bit more caramel, and a touch of toffee. But there is also a "shitload" of hoppy action going on! It is pithy and rindy, with some piney, resiny notes just getting slathered all over the palate. Though the toffee sticks around a bit, it's the hopping that lasts well in the finish. An interesting take on the style, for sure. Reminds me a bit of Smutty Barleywine. Prosit!
