According to the brewer, this is aged in Jim Beam barrels. My favorite old-school bourbon so I had to have a 32 oz growler to go. Rich and smooth with a great boozy taste. Deep and dark with big roasted malt flavors. Expansive bourbon aroma with a whiff of vanilla, all propelled by the alcohol.
Rather sweet and plenty malty, but there is a fine balance with the tangy, hot, and sharp sensations. It's hard to distinguish right off what's hops, what flavor is the booze, and what's alcohol. But it does sort out that there is a nice bitter edge with some spicy flavors. The burnt sugar and dark roast malt is sensational. This one was on tap at the brewery tasting room. The 2016 version is available in bottles.
