Imperial Stout is the epitome of malt complexity. Seven different specialty malts provide notes of roast, chocolate, caramel, espresso, and a hint of smoke. A rich but velvety smooth body hides the strength of this massive stout. A dose of Cascade hops provide a balance to the heaps of malt that make up this ale. Get one soon, or get left behind in a cloud of smoke.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a dark reddish brown with a fine, half finger light khaki head with good retention and slippery lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, coffee and a little cola. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, chocolate, drip coffee and faint wisps of dried fruit and cola. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. After the pour, I was was thinking this might be closer to a standard stout than an imperial one; the color was of satisfactory darkness, but lighter than expected and the aroma was a bit mellow with an unexpected cola notes. The first taste changed my mind, it has nice chocolatey and coffee flavors and a mellow, but nicely complimentary char to the malt. There is a very light fruit/cola note, but it was well integrated into the flavor and left a pleasant lingering element to the finish. Not an intense or particularly deep flavored stout, but a well balanced and very enjoyable one. I hope to see this again.
