Our team enjoys the Cold IPA style because it requires using a lager yeast strain, allowing for the creation of lighter-bodied IPAs which better showcase delicate fruit notes. Our Cold Kiwi IPA blends a selection of Australian hops with more traditional German hops to highlight the flavors of kiwi and Sauvignon Blanc grapes alongside the aromatics of lime and papaya. Enjoy this incredibly food friendly IPA with a variety of dishes from grilled chicken shawarma to lobster pad thai to a slice of key lime pie for dessert.

16oz draft. Poured a clear, golden orange color with a small, fluffy, white head of foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of sweet kiwi, citrus fruits and caramel. It tasted of sweet kiwi with caramel and a mild bitterness.

12oz bottle. No dating information found.
Starts pouring a clear body but gets cloudier towards the end of the bottle. Deep gold colored body. High pillowy mounds of white foamy head, which collapse slowly leaving groups of bubbles clinging to the glass. Leaves behind extensive lacing webs.
Aroma spreads widely upon opening, with smells of white wine, earthy minerals, lemon, lime, and a mention of kiwi.
Taste is semi-sweet and quite earthy, with flavors of white wine grapes, lemon, lime, citrus pith, and dank resin at the end, and into the aftertaste. The fruity flavors are muted by the minerality and earthy expressions, plus the bitter pith and resin. Any kiwi fruit flavor is indistinct and mixed with the general tone of fruitiness, again tempered by the earthy and bitter tones. Bitterness is not extreme but more from fruit pith/rind and white grape skins.
Medium mouthfeel. Clean and dry finish, similar to freshly turned soil. Excellent carbonation.
More in the style of an India Pale Lager, and quite expressive in the nose and flavors. Quite different from standard IPAs, with its minerality and dank bitterness.

This is an incredibly refreshing offering. The lime is in the vein of lime zest that has a little of the bitter peel left on it. This IPA is very balanced and light. The kiwi comes as it is lingering on your tastebuds with a splash of dry like tannins in a wine.

12oz bottle, undated but presumed fresh, poured into a 16oz tumbler glass. Enjoyed on 04.08.2025, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a dark golden amber, copper hues, browns and oranges, somewhat clear, slightly cloudy, definitely a unique color with a foamy white head that offers good retention and lacing. The aroma is pleasant, earthy fruit skin, berry fruits, very floral with soft pale grain and mineral water. The flavors are fine, tangy kiwi and berry fruits, citrus peel, earthy and bitter hop, green and raw, lots of pale dough. The mouthfeel is good, coating and crisp with a dry medium body and a zippy finish.
Verdict: A decent IPA from Moody Tongue. There is definitely a berry/kiwi style fruitiness but it's competing against a very bitter and earthy character that overpowers the more delicate aspects of the beer.

Clear light "old gold" color with a massive and lasting frothy off white head and some decent lacing.
The aroma is citrus, tropical fruit and white wine with herbal and pine notes. The taste is citrus zest - grapefruit and lime, light caramel, papaya, bread crust, hints of wine, fresh mown grass, weed and matcha tea and pine, minimally sweet, slightly tart, slightly funky, moderate bitterness. If there is kiwI in there my taste buds didn't find it, but that just might be me. The body is light, plenty of carbonation, sparkly and crisp, very drinkable. Altogether, this is a fairly tasty and refreshing brew, even if not exactly as expected, should go well with most food and could be a good general purpose summer and fall cooler, well done.

Had a single bottle at Benelux in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. No bottled on date that I could decipher. My first brew from these guys. Decent beer, nothing special.

Somewhat a wolf in sheep's clothing, the outdated India Pale Lager makes a return as Cold IPA. And when in the hands of Moody Tongue, the help of Australian and German hops highlights kiwi flavors for a crisp, dry and refreshing beer with bite.
Pale gold and sharing only a modest haze, Cold Kiwi IPA kicks off with an arid white froth and a fruity aromatic display of citrus, tropical fruit and vineyard character along with a steeped herbal note. Scantly sweet, the early palate is lightly caramelized with only suggestions of bread crust on a wafer-thin malt taste.
Shedding a sharp citrus flavor, the hops bring a tantalizing character of lime, orange and grapefruit- all peel, all pith. A more earthen hop character follows with a dank and dirty hop flavor hinting toward hemp, wet sod and bruised fruit. Finishing with a juicy-dryness, the flavor of papaya, wine rot and an overall grassy, verbena, green tea bring a sharp and succinct bitterness to close.
Light, crisp and off-clean, the hop hop character outshines anything kiwi related as the finesse of the fruit additions gets lost in the cold.
