maybe a little light in feel for the style, and for the acidity thats been so nicely developed here, but this is great beer, one of the better sours i have had from these guys, and quite complex for feeling so light overall. pale copper in color, leggy on the edges of the glass but without much head or active carbonation. the smell and flavor of this are really nice, i get an almost cognac or port wine fruity, acidic, woody sweetness to this, right away, and its sort of driven deeper by a stinging and gripping acidity on the first sip. soft vanilla, raisin, cider vinegar, caramelized grain sugar, preserved lemon, and alcohol, its all there, and its complex, even in an complex style, there is a lot going on here. i like how sour it is, and how the acidity has flavor, its not just there for the sake of pucker, it adds a great element. red wine notes to finish, not much sweetness, and i am surprised how well this holds up overall for not having much body. it might be better with more bubbles, but i dont really mind the lighter feel. a little astringent as it warms, but a really cool beer on the whole.
