a true to style and quite professional helles lager, they have gotten a lot from the grain and yeast here, and this drinks fresh, refined, and excited, nice for this time of year and way more flavorful than the other yellow beers that dominate the summer season, real well done, among the best ive had from wild ride to date. a little deeper than golden but not quite to the brassy color range, decent clarity and a nicely frothed white head. it almost seems like this was decocted, im getting really full spectrum german malt in here, crackery and pils-like, a touch sweet, but also deeply earthy with an obvious mineral profile and some almost granola richness for a second, good water chemistry here for sure at the very least, and a great recipe. the yeast is old worldy and well used, and the hops are fairly light bit this is balanced well. the aroma and the flavor are about the same, to me it drinks a little drier than it smells and tastes a little more complex, with some subtle hop spiciness on the back end and a really nice yeast contribution that starts earlier than in many of these. its drinkable but not overly light, with a lighter than medium body but some pleasing structure that i like in the style, and pretty good carbonation too. this feels like a step forward for these guys to me, like ive always thought their beer was a little bit hit or miss, fun but sometimes a little amateurish, but this is dialed, hopefully they make it full time, one of their best for sure!
