one of the better beer in this series that i have had, quite a few versions of this have dropped over the years now, my first in awhile, years maybe, and its nice, clean base sour, highly fruited to the point of being fruit first, which comes at the expense of the grain for sure, but is juicy and real enough to have that not really matter, sugary but not over the top, not candy-like, no sweeter than the fruit itself maybe, not all dripping in vanilla and marshmallows either which is how so much sour beer seems to be these days, and i do like the high fruit intensity, its jammy and i think appreciable as marionberry, which can be tricky. pink stained, lightly hazy, some head to it, i like these with lots of life and this has just enough, maybe not quite as refined looking as it could be, but its pretty as it is. its not super sour in nose or taste, but quite tidy, light lemon accenting that, not quite mouthwatering acidity, i could handle a touch more, but like it being restrained and as such more drinkable than many in this style space. aroma and flavor a berry driven, with subtle red wine fruitiness and even tannic character in support, there is some body to this that seems wheat based, but its not malty at all, blackberry, cranberry with the tartness, and like syrah or something. pleasant linger on the palate, could there be some lactose in here by chance? acidity doesnt quite cut through the sweet, but i could have a couple glasses of this no problem and like the somewhat simplistic approach. of slightly better overall quality than i recall from some of the others...
