A 330ml bottle with a BB of May 2017. Received recently from a webshop. Part of this brewery's Discovery IPA series, it is described on the label as a session IPA hopped with experimental variety 431.
A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A rich golden-amber colour with slight haze and moderate carbonation. Yields a decent head of frothy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before subsiding to a patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of seriously fruity hops with notes of tropical fruit, mango, pineapple, citrus, light grassiness, earthy yeast and subtle malt. Almost juicy in character, with bready undertones. Very nice.
T: Tastes of fruity hops, with hints of mango, pineapple, tropical fruit, grapefruit, citrus, grass, light spice, earthy yeast and mild malt. Bright and juicy. A light, crisp bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth with decent body. A tad flat; could stand to be livelier. Aftertaste of fruity hops, earthy yeast and mild leafy bitterness.
O: A rather nice IPA-lite from this Irish brewery. Looks alright; maybe a bit more head would be good. Delicious aroma and satisfyingly hoppy flavour. Body is OK - enhanced carbonation needed. I have no idea how prevalent this new hop variety is, but it's a good one. A tasty brew that deserves your attention if you come across it.
