330ml Can from McCambridge's Of Galway (€2.95):
The beer was quite a dark one with plenty of malts & more chocolate coming through than I'd expected. There was a nice sweetness to proceedings as well though thanks to the touches of coconut that made a brief appearance around the middle of the beer. The much promised ginger was absent with the nose though but some did appear come the taste, although not quite as much as I'd have expected from a beer with the same name as this one. There was some nice spices coming through towards the end, particularly after the beer had settled some but it still felt more like a chocolate porter than a ginger one.

Pours a dark brown colour. Faint aromas of spices and dark malts; not much to the smell. Tastes lighter than expected, especially for a porter. Zesty, faint ginger, crisp, very dark malts and dark chocolate. Not as heavy as most porters.

On-tap at The Norseman, Dublin, Ireland
A: The beer is black when viewed from afar. Upon closer inspection, the beer has dark red near the edges of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down and left a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of sweet, dark malts are present in the nose along with notes of ginger.
T: Like the smell, the taste starts out like a porter with flavors of dark malts and slight bits of sweetness—notes of ginger then become apparent towards the finish.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer manages to blend the porter and ginger flavors rater well so that neither overpowers the other—it has a very good balance.
