Brú Rí is brewed with Irish malt and four different hops. It is a crisp, refreshingly bitter ale, with a blast of citrus, pine and floral scents on the nose. The legend of Brian Boru, the last High King of Ireland, was the inspiration behind the naming of this beer. Brú Rí is our very own King of Irish Beers. Brian Boru fought the Great Battle of Tara and was made King of Ireland at the Stone of Destiny on the nearby Hill of Tara outside of Trim, in County Meath.

look: one finger frothy foamy white head, good retention, nice bit of lacing, beer is golden to amber in colour, quite hazy, only a few bubbles rising through the beer.
smell: hops dominate but not overwhelmingly, citrus fruit smells, mainly orange and grapefruit, also some pineapple there, nice malty smell there too, a little biscuity.
taste: really is all hops, the malt flavours don’t really come through although there’s some toasty flavours on the finish, the beer is sweet at first, golden syrup flavours turn quick to fruit, that pineapple really comes through, grapefruit also, little bit floral, maybe a tad soapy, nice zap of bitterness on the finish, along with some orange flavours, but overall the flavours aren’t massive, quite a mild tasting beer.
feel: light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry and crisp finish, sessionable, just little bit of warming in the throat, somewhat surprising for a beer of this strength.
overall: perfectly acceptable ipa here, first beer i’ve had from brú and i would now be keen to try their other brews.

Pale golden with sparse head, aroma is malty orange with trace of hops, taste has a lot of bite it really attacks the palate with fruit and hops a-plenty , it has a nice balance of sweet with sour, with the sour winning out, this is a really nice beer.

A nice IPA that lacks the necessary punch, regardless of the accompanying food. Still, well worth the repeated try. I had it on tap in Toronto, at The Wallace.

A bottle picked up by my wife on a recent visit to Ireland. Pours a hazy amber colour with a small head which it retains, leaving trace. Aromas of light floral & orange. Tastes of citrus & orange malt. Average hoppiness. An easy drink to like but more pale ale than IPA.

A: The beer is clear amber in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high off white head that never completely faded away.
S: Light aromas of floral and citrusy hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste has light flavors of pale and toasted malts along with slight notes of floral and citrusy hops. Only slight amounts of bitterness are perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink but doesn't have that much in the way of hoppy aromas and flavors, even when compared to other English IPAs.
