Pours a decent amount of foam but fades quick. Very dark brown color. Smells of mildy malty beer. Taste is pretty easy to drink. Noticing some metal or can flavors but not that much. Not as toasty as I thought it could be. A little flat tasting. It's not that bad honestly.
Easy to drink and just enough flavor to keep me drinking. Still not as good as craft beers I get in Canada but for a Phillipenes 7-11 beer, it's ok.

This was muled back to me all the way from the Philippines in October 2025, before being drunk in December that year.

L: The beer is an almost opaque dark brown, with a thin rim of head around the edge of the glass. No carbonation can be seen.

S: The nose has dark grains, brown sugar and dried, dark red fruits.

T: Taste is dark toffee, brown sugar, blackberries, burnt and slightly acrid bread crusts, and a mild, acrid bitterness. The finish is clean and crisp. It all melds together into a pleasant and easy-drinking lager.

M: The mouthfeel on the beer is full and smooth. Cabronation is minimal, but the carbonic kick is high upon swallowing, to the point that warmth lingers in my mouth and throat after each sip. At only 5% ABV, I assume it's the kick on swallow that causes it.

O: For a beer that looks unremarkable and somewhat listless in the glass, this ended up very enjoyable and is well worth a second look.

Cheers

L. Dark but not opaque, small white head that doesn't last. S. Faintly sweet malt. T. This is the good bit. Sweet, malty, hint of brown sugar. F. Light carbonation, easy to drink.
I am reviewing as I drink a can of this in Manila, Philippines, as the super typhoon passes over. I have also had a few bottles whilst on holiday here. A solid dark beer in a region where dark beers aren't plentiful. San Miguel has numerous variaties but this is the best I have tried.

Wow, what a pleasantly delicious surprise this one was. Sat in my cellar for several months and is still super tasty. Clear, dark brown pour with quick-fading head. Roasty aroma with a hint of smoke. Flavors are semi-sweet dark bready malts. Yum! Finish is rather balanced and clean.

From a bottle.
This beer has a faint bit of smoke upon the opening. This beer pours a dark brown color. When held up to light, I get hints of amber shining through. The head is tan colored, and 1 finger. The bubbles are fairly small in the head, and it's a bit frothy looking. Retention is decent, but there's no lacing on the glass.
The aroma is so faint in this beer. I do get a faint hint of malt, but it's fairly blank.
Taste - The flavor is malty, as expected. I do get some caramel in the flavor, and it lingers in my throat. Lots of dark bread in the flavor. Very slight bitterness on the way back.
The body is crisp and very bubbly feeling. The carbonation bubbles tickle my throat.
I honestly had no idea what to expect from this beer. What I can say is that I am impressed, and I am enjoying drinking this.

San Miguel Cerveza Negra Dark Lager, 5% ABV. Pours dark brown with a three-finger beige head that left some lacing. Nose is roasty malt, taste follows, plus caramel, slight malt sweetness, slight bitterness. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent. I don't drink a lot of lagers, but I like this.

Pours copper with a 1 1/2" tan head, which fades to 1/2". Moderate lacing to the end.

Aroma is very roasty, caramel, spice, coffee.

Taste is caramel, roast malt, toffee, coffee.

Medium bodied, light carbonation. Semidry finish.

One of the better Dark Lagers I've had.
