this is a super nice porter here, the balance between the rich malt flavours, the sweetness from the adjuncts and the bitterness is just right, beer is a dark ruby colour, one finger tan coloured head which quickly dissipates to a light smattering of bubbles, nose is a gorgeous combination of coffee, dark chocolate, maple syrup and oaky cigar smoke, the chocolate and the maple syrup shine on the taste but there’s also plenty of espresso flavour going on, smokey, toasty, medium bitterness on the finish, coffee flavours and maple linger on the finish, medium to full bodied, creamy and dense, fair bit of alcohol warming, all in all a very nice porter, impressive stuff, far and away the best rye river beer i’ve ever had
