Bottle purchased in Tokyo. Brown bottle, 330 mL, capped, no date. Not much English on the label, but "WASEDA" in large type.
This beer poured a hazy, amber color with white foam that left lace on the glass. The smell was malty with some biscuit and floral hops (mild) aromas. The taste was sweet malt and biscuit with mild floral and bitter hops. The floral flavors lasted into the aftertaste. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy, nicely balanced, with lingering malt and hops flavors. The body and carbonation feel were medium. This was a tasty brew.
Honestly, I am not sure if this was a bitter. It is my best guess. Their web site lists Pale Lager, Lager, Pilsner, Bitter, and Stout as their standard beer styles. I even asked a Japanese colleague to look at the bottle and translate, but he said there is no indication of the beer style on the bottle.
