On tap at GABS in Melbourne, May 2014.
Pours a dark-red colour, clear with foamy ring of beige foam on the top. Fairly light-looking and flat.
Smells complex and interesting. Sourdough twist to the grain, with notes of caramel, honey and toffee, plus tangy lemony hops and a touch of cinnamon. Nice spice, nice tang. Pleasant indeed.
Taste is very sweet upfront, lots of residual sugar with notes of caramel and a slight buttery edge. Develops that sweet pie spice character midway with a touch of cinnamon and clove. The spice is really quite dominant but it's pleasant and interesting. Nice drop.
Decent body, fairly notable alcohol character creeps through at the end. Pleasant, though.
Decent brew. Has a nice sweet-dark character to it.

On tap at Vivo! in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Japan. Served in a tulip glass. A collaboration between Saitama, Japan's Coedo Brewing, Ichiro Whiskey distillery, and Coronado brewing, this whiskey barrel-aged black ale is awesome! Definitely reveals itself as it warms... lots of sweet, strong whiskey notes added to the bitter base of the Coedonado black ale. Loved this version and would definitely get it again!
