Butcher Block Red Ale pays tribute to the longtime butcher shop on Main Street in Tatamagouche. This smooth red ale owes its bold flavour to El Dorado's fruity hops and the rich bitterness of roasted barley. A beer made for beer drinkers, that pairs well with a hard day's work.

Clear amber with a good head. Grassy hops with some sweet malt. Very smooth feel with a medium malt body. A slight chalky dryness on the finish from the malted barley.

Amber orange and nearly perfectly clear. Two fingers of dense off-white head is almost meringue like, boasting a great level of retention.
A healthy dose of toasted malt and brown bread crust are dabbed in caramel. I get the roasted barley in a faint dry roast. Its hop character is more leafy, green, and piney than it is fruity. I do get a bit of melon. All in all, reserved and clean.
Sweet, toasted malt comes in a fuller, more weighty fashion than expected. Graham cracker and golden honey are in there as well. The bitterness that comes next is in a slightly unrefined, leafy form with a bit of pine. Its dry finish accentuates this quality.
It's got a light-medium body with a notable, firm dryness in the finish that I'm guessing is coming from the roasted barley. This is where its bitter, leafy character resides. It's never overbearing but it does linger well past the finish.
A fairly hearty American Red that gets its weight more from its ABV and dry/bitter quality than it does from its malt character. This is a middle of the road offering in comparison to the rest of Tata's current portfolio. I will say, their statement that it's a "beer made for beer drinkers, [and] pairs well with a hard days work" rings true. You can easily have more than one with its level of drinkability.
