This American IPA is named after Deception Bay, once thought to be the original name of River John - Tatamagouche's neighbour. Brewed with Frontenac Organic Pilsner Malt, bittered with Magnum hops, and then hopped plentifully with Huell Melon, Mandarina Bavaria, and Citra adding seriously juicy flavour and aroma.

A- 16oz can pours into a stemmed chalice with a mostly clear golden body and a one finger, thick and fluffy head. Good head retention. Thick sheets of lacing.
S- Sweet and bitter citrus fruit, slight tropical, slight dank and floral hops drive the aroma. Grapefruit, candied orange, tangerine, mango, lemon, flowery and pine notes. Some support from bready, light malty, sweet and cereal hints.
T- The grapefruit and lemon carry through from the aroma very much but the beer becomes very herbal and floral on the taste buds. Huge lemongrass and citrus hebral tea notes akin to Earl Grey followed by dank herbs, pine, flowery, lime, orange and slight tropical notes. Honestly a bit perfumy. Slight base malt notes as well as a medium sweetness with hints of crackers.
MF- Very fluffy and somewhat creamy texture to a medium bodied brew. High level of bubbles and an herbal bitter finish.
Interesting IPA that goes from citrus and fruity in the aroma to more bitter, herbal and floral on the taste buds.

Pours a slightly hazy (not cloudy) gold colour with a fluffy off-white head that sticks around. Lacing on the glass is thick and persistent. Nose is predominantly hoppy: orange rind and green mango accented with floral notes, like rosewater. Can't pick out any distinct malts, but aroma gives impression of sweetness. Taste is a nice balance between a sweet, full body (beer comes in at over 6%), and hop bitterness, with a bright hop finish hinting at the aromas listed above. As it warms, both aroma and taste become more "green" in terms of hop character, and I also get things like orange candies and lemon pledge.
A solid flagship IPA from Tatamagouche Brewing Co. I only wish something in the malt character had jumped out and marked it as original.

L- Pours a hazy copper colour topped by a 1 1/2 finger white frothy head. Great retention and lots of lacing.
S- Incredibly juicy IPA - Orange and grapefruit with a little bit of pine resin.
T- Caramel malt, pine, orange juice, and citrus pith. Well balanced and easy drinking.
F- Medium Mouthfeel and light carbonation.
O- A great juicy IPA from the Maritimes. A style that is perhaps a little overdone but one that I never personally get tired of. My only complaint is the light carbonation. I think the beer could really benefit from a little bit more bubble presence.

Hazy light gold with a good head and lacing. Floral melon and citrus nose. Medium malt body with a mild pine hop finish. Soft, smooth and easy-drinking for an IPA.

A very good AIPA, far and away the best beer I had in Nova Scotia (I am hoping the 6 beers I brought home from Nova Scotia package stores are better than the stuff served in most restaurants). I had this one in a can at Rum Runner's restaurant in Lunenburg. It was a perfect accompanyment to the delicious Indian food served there. Pours a hazy orange color with a big antique white head. Excellent head retention and thick lacing. Strong and pleasant aroma of floral and citrus hops. Good robust flavor, stood up well to the spicy masala sauce served with my fish. Nicely balanced with bready malt as a close second to the strong citrus hops lead.. Mouthfeel is crisp and rich, nicely bitter but not a hop bomb. This beer really stands out among Nova Scotia restaurant fare, but I would still appreciate it if it was on the menu here in the States. A very solid and enjoyable AIPA.

A - Orange copper, hazy, with about a finger and a half of slightly off-white head.
S - Surprisingly subtle smell, light hop and toasted malts.
T - BIG dry hop taste, surprising because of the smell. Subtle citrus and malt notes, with a bitter aftertaste.
M - Average liveliness and brightness.
O - Very dry West coast style IPA, great showing from a small brewery.
