Poured from the can into a Hoegaarden glass. Whatever, I have no idea what this Sake Rice and Koji brew will turn out to be, or if this is an IPA, Witbier whatever, let's just enjoy this for what it is.

Not a bad looking brew, but the head forms real adjunct creamy foamy but with some considerable staying power. Head makes two fingers and an off white color, body is fairly clear also with some classic brown amber body and orange hues. Not too bad.

Interesting nose. Definitely seems like a sense of Belgian sucrose kind of thing going on, but there is that sake like warmth to it, with a grainy/ricy sensation, and a good quality warmth not fussel and burning or cheap hooch alcohol smell. It's a soft bouquet if I could call it that.

Palate hits with a nice very interesting fruit angle. Hints of citrus, sort of a juicy kumquat and orange angle not sure if this is some yeast or byproduct of the koji fermentation but it's actually VERY nice. There's a little bit of front palate salinity to this at the tip of my tongue, mixing lightly with the fruit angle. Some of the chewy almost wheat like sensing malt comes on the swallow, with the fruity quality it fits in nicely. Some sucrose sweetnes seems possibly evident also. Real nice sake warmth in the stomach on swallow, particularly when it warms.

This is one wild interesting brew, it 's actually quite fun, but don't go in thinking this is a hoppy IPA because there is no hop angle on this at all. In fact bitterness is next to nil, so expect it as such. This is a total style blur, Witbier, Belgian, IPa? Who cares just try one it's quite and experience.

Bought a can of this at Tanakaya in Mejiro, Tokyo. Poured into a weizen glass. The front of the can hilariously says "I'm not asking you what you like! SORRY" beer style -- this white IPA is original and doesn't care who you are or what you want. It has peach, pineapple, stonefruit and lots of other tropical flavors. One of the best white IPAs i've had in a long time! Get this limited 2013 can if you can!
