A crisp, medium–bodied ale with orchard fruit notes on the nose. Brewed with a blend of Pilsner, Vienna, and Munich malt, this beer balances sweet, malty body with flowery Saaz, Columbus, Chinook hops. Brewed in a Belgian style, this beer is quaffable at any time of year.

Picked this up as my birthday sixer. Nose is mostly grapeskin and a touch of Belgian yeast but not too strong. A little more carbonation than is perfect for me but the finish and aftertaste are pretty decent. Nice biscuit note with some noble hops for balance. Pretty drinkable, if not spectacular.

Clear gold with a finger of white head. Not much retention, spotty lace.
Fruity, herbal/spicy, and slightly citrusy aroma
Doughy malt, light banana fruitiness, spicy in flavor
Clean and light, could use a little bit more carbonation
Pretty decent easy drinker

A: A hazy pale yellow in color with a light white head.

S: Light Belgian yeast character with a considerable amount of grain with a hint of dry straw, almost a bit lager like, but with some Belgian character.

T: Taste follows aroma, lots of malt flavor with some straw as well, and an herbal hop character. There is something funky in the finish I can't quite figure out.

M: Medium light with plenty of bubbles, perhaps a touch cloying.

O: Not bad, but bot great either. Tastes a little like a mix between a Belgian pale, and a amber ale, but not very successfully.

The carbonation and the subtle yet substantial fruity undertones in the taste..an excellent representation of a golden ale. There is some malt-forward to its initial taste and mouthfeel. Golden is not filtered to where some of the complexity is gone. The smell is average for a beer without a lot of bells and whistles. It is locally brewed in Northern Virginia and should be available in many D.C. area locations. A well worth-it purchase and a very solid go-to for a refresher when the weather is warm. Golden Ox pulls off a higher than expected ABV with no serious "booziness" and is very suited for a quick chug or a sip it slowly at a relaxed pace.

A Golden Ox ale that comes in at 5.9% and pours a hazy golden amber with a huge thick head that leaves lacing. The nose gets a light scent, followed by malty taste with a bit of hops. Nice!
