Cask conditioned; served in a pint glass at Fireworks Pizza in Leesburg, Va
(Old Ox Tap Takeover)
A - Almost completely black in appearance with a thin tan surface head, some lacing
S - Coconut is noticable, but not overpowering, a few other aromas going on here that I could pick up but not quite identify
T - Vanilla is very subtle, which was good, and there are definite coconut milk hints at good levels; I liked the balance, but to me, this isn't a good combination for a beer; the was a peculiar aftertaste that I can only blame on the vanila; I scored it better, because I think they did a pretty good job with it but I'd actually like to try it without the vanilla, just a coconut porter might work for me
F - This could never be described as thin, very thick feel and almost a slippery/oily sensation on the tongue
O - Again, this brewery, in my mind is doing great work with their staple year round beers; their experimentation is interesting, but I haven't found one that knocks me over; they're new though, and headed in the right direction.
