On tap at brewery:
Pours crystal clear despite its rusty medium brown color. Full pour still had a AP of rust-ringed head. Light lacing.
Nose has the banana eaters of the yeast up front. Supporting notes are light caramel combined with a hint of sweet apple, and an earthy spice note.
Taste starts with a balanced honey-apple malt balanced by a neutral to lightly spiced bitterness. The banana hides a bit but is noticed. Earthy spicicness leads the back taste. None of these notes are in-your face, it’s all quite balanced.
Light heft with moderate carbonation.
I enjoyed this about as much as any dubbel, though it’s not one of my favorite styles. I could have a pint and enjoy it, then move on.
