Brewday reminded us of coming home to the smell of mom’s fresh baked brownies. Ohhh what a magical feeling. This classic American Brown Ale mixes together a sprinkling of caramel and chocolate malts with a dash of Cascade and Chinook hops to create a warm comforting hug of deliciousness. Mom’s worked hard brewing this batch for you. So don’t disappoint her. Pick Up Your %@$# Brownies!

On tap at brewery:
This beer has a deep brown body, but it’s clarity is fairly discernible at the auburn edges. The very light beige head falls to swaths connecting a medium ring. Splotches of lace are thrown against the wall.
A fairly classic brown ale aroma is emitted, with a toffee, medium toast, and light coffee coming from the malts, but a thrush of hops settling them down a tad.
A little light and dry overall, my initial sips had a slight bite to them that I found out of character. The taste has more of a burnt toast aspect, less coffee, and a little more of a thicket of hops for the palate to navigate than expected from the nose.
I really enjoy smelling this beer. I sorta enjoy drinking it. It’s just a tad harsh on the palate and ends up seeming a tad bitter, especially with the somewhat dry finish. I’m in the minority in wanting to see more [good] brown ales out there, and this one has potential. I’d like to see it made again.
