The beer pours a nice brown looking head that dissipates fairly quickly. The beer itself is a very dark brown and coffee black.
The smell has fairly strong coffee notes with some light sweet chocolate underneath it. The bourbon notes are fairly light and come out more in the finish than anything else.
The taste also has a strong coffee note but it isn't as acidic as in the smell and balances better with the chocolate. The coffee has a nice fruit taste to it while the bourbon comes out more in the end. There is also a hint of vanilla throughout it all.
The feel is good. It has a thin but medium body that resembles coffee with tingling carbonation. It has a fairly dry finish.
Overall, a good imperial coffee stout and a nice balance between notes even if it is coffee heavy.

No date or other info on the bottle. At least two years old, but properly cellared. Poured into a small stemmed tulip.
Almost a black Russian like taste and feel. One might say more cocktail than beer. This is one of those stouts that you want to finish before it gets too warm. 3.5
A – Pours an opaque black with a half-finger tan rock head that dissipates quickly. Decent viscosity showing with some alcohol legs. Minor lacing. 3.75
S – Aromas of milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee, roasted malts, some sweetness. A lovely aroma with the bourbon spirits easily recognizable but not overwhelming and slightly in the background. 4.25
T – Roasted malts and coffee. Some leathery notes. Easy drinking bourbon barrel base. Not hot or solventy. As this beer warms the coffee bitterness really begins to shine through. 3.5
MF – Medium bodied with a coating dry finish. A bit thinner than one might want and might think after viewing this beer in the glass before tasting. 3.25

On tap at brewery:
Near jet black with a tan head that is surprising since the pours was but a thin stream from the tap. There’s even a little lacing.
Nose has a lightly charred roasted note beneath a robust coffee and chocolate mix. There’s a hint of licorice as well. Taste brings the espresso coffee front and center with the other notes falling back. Barrel is in the background and there’s a hint of alcohol bite in back. Otherwise it’s a smooth, medium-to-full bodied beer. Pretty nicely constructed overall.
