Kavos 17/7 2022. 33 cl bottle from local Mini/Market in Kavos, Corfu. Transparent fancy label with some golden Lions holding a shield with a small map of Corfu and some beer-making equipment.
Pours clear maroon with a mid-sized off-white head. Stable and a bit fluffy. Settles as thin but unbroken layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a little sugar and nuts. Toasted malts, caramel, toffee, hints of brown sugar and hazelnut.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet caramel. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.
Quite decent, toasted Amber Ale.

a: beautiful dark amber color with some lovely ruby red notes. 2 finger off-white frothy head. really pretty beer
s: caramel malt, lemongrass, sweet berries, crackers, and grass. finish on the nose is more of that sweet malt & berry
t: caramel malt, huge crackers and dough, a touch of sweet citrus. there is a mild berry flavor behind there which comes in with some more sweetness. finish is sweet, malty, and bready
m: medium. carbonation is on the lower side for the style
o: a red ale that is more sweet than hoppy. it's a nice change from all the over-hopped American versions. Nothing mind blowing, but its easy to drink and you can have multiple with no problem

Served on draft at Beer Times in Athens, this red-amber beer has a light spicy hoppiness with hints of caramel. It was medium bodied & crisp with moderate bitterness & light earthy tones. One beer I'd be more than happy to have again.
