An with the Braxton Brewing Company entering the Cincinnati frey, a fresh, vibrant and youthful taste extends from the beat-down and rustic ole' town. Like a breath of fresh air, their Sparky American wheat ale greets the senses with citrus hops and close with a refreshing sense of ease. But what's between really sells its story.
With a shade richer than pilsner, the wheat beer shows a nearly bright clarity that has surely stripped the the ale of the bulk of sweetness, breadiness and creaminess in order to ensue an aromatic quality that circulates around pink grapefruit, freshly zested oranges and a hint of perfumy pinecone. Its first sip enlightens the palate with a carbonated brightness of wafer-thin malt and citrus overtones to command attention.
What ensues is a billowing citrus taste the gains prominence and gives the middle palate an overwhelmingly fruit-centric demeanor. While the wafer-thin sweetness and notions of honeysuckle slowly release and the palate dries beautifully to an arid breadiness and grapefruit acidic bitterness.
Yet the bulk of the beer's success relies upon its mediumm-dry texture that has a creamy upstart but a bright and zesty finish, highlighted with citrus peel and freshly torn pine needles to carry the beer past its clean and refreshing finish and into an afterglow of floral taste and an echo of fresh-baked wheat bread in aftertaste.

Very nice. This was my first selection from this new brewer. Crisp, refreshing, with a little hoppy taste. I'm encouraged and look forward too trying another of their creations.
