Fall means football, tailgating, festivals, crisp air, and cool evenings. It also means good beer. Germany’s Oktoberfest begins in September and ends in early October. The tradition of gathering with friends, family, and your community over a stein of traditional German beer dates back centuries. More recently, you could find us gathering with those people in our garage over a homebrew, watching a game, or tailgating. Now, we’re excited to continue this tradition with our Braxton community. We’ve brewed Oktober Fuel — a traditional Oktoberfest Lager — for you, our community. It’s fuel for fall.

This traditional Oktoberfest style lager is brewed using the finest German malts, decoction mashing and noble hops. Oktober Fuel has an aroma that is dominated by complex malt characteristics including bready, biscuity and slightly toasty. It is light amber to dark orange in color, with a beautiful, long lasting off-white head. Starting with a complex malt sweetness this beer will finish crisp and dry. Oktober Fuel has a nice spicyness of noble hops to balance the malt complexity this style is known for.

12 oz can canned 8/2/23 into a dimple mug.
L: Pours clear orange amber with a thin off white head, low retention down to edge foam, steady fine carbo bubbles, minimal lacing.
S: Light sweet malts, a hint of dark fruits, distant fruit bread.
T: Caramel malts, slightly rich, lightly floral, black tea, citrus zest, a hint of pine, lightly toasted grains, light tastes of dark fruits, plum, red grapes, green apple skin.
F: Brisk medium light, fast & dry finish. Smooth with lightly creamy after tones then dry.
O: A traditional tasting & feeling Marzen with nice fruited notes and a solid tasting and balanced finish. It is very good in its style.

Im sampling a cool 12 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. canned on 7/1/21, I think , the stamp is on the edge and distorted. Courtesy of @Manta200. Thank you!
The beer pours a bright clear copper color with a creamy yet fizzy head of about 2 cm. This foam is eggshell white and fades to the thinnest of edge layers quickly after the pour. No real lattice when I swirl the glass.
Aroma is big and grainy off the pour, with a little bit of an almond nutty character and some light caramel. Maybe a little floral hop character. pretty solid nose on this brew.
First sip reveals a lighter body and fine tingly carbonation. The texture is a little slick and slides down easy.
Flavor is some toasted grains and a bit more caramel than on the nose. I also get what feels like a hint of chocolate which seems off,but I taste it briefly at each sip. The finish goes dry and black tea hop bite. This bite lingers long after each sip.
A pretty drinkable brew and tasty enough, not the best oktoberfest brew nor the worst for the recent tastings Ive been doing. Worth a mug or two!

12 oz can, poured into a nucleated teku at ~40 degrees F.

L: Pours a clear autumn-clover-honey amber, and forms a couple fingers of dense off-white head with good retention. Spotty lacing.

S: Toast, with some caramel and toffee notes. Faint raisin, a tinge of flowers.

T: That opens on the bitter side, threatening at my hop tolerance trigger. Quite floral from the sip to the swallow, and lingers as such as well, with a vague resinous quality to the finish. I can detect some faint toast and caramel notes in there, but primarily it's the floral tones that approach my tongue's "no other flavors" override. This likely means you folks who can appreciate hops will enjoy this one.

F: Medium bodied and smooth.

O: I most likely won't repeat this one, as it's not quite malt-forward enough to qualify as such from a hop-sensitive perspective. Though as this is a local brewery that advertised a New Zealand Pils as "delicately hopped" when it was a borderline IPL, I am not entirely surprised. Your mileage may vary.

I got a 6pck of this beer from my local meijer store. It poured a clear amber with off white head with spotty lace. The scent caramel malt base notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with malt forward base and subtle bitter hop finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Canned on 7/24/20. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a burnt golden with a subtle haze; creamy light khaki head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are on the mild and faint side. Mild floral and fruit notes. Some caramel. Some breads and grains. Malts are there. The flavors are interesting. It's definitely on the bitter side. Slightly odd finish. Malts do their thing. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed for the most part although there's some subtle alcohol flavors in the finish. Mouthfeel is nice. It's on the lighter side of medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's sharp, crisp, fluffy and smooth.

This is an interesting Oktoberfest. It's a little rough around the edges for the style. I wasn't really feeling it at all in the beginning, but it slowly became pretty enjoyable as I drank it. I liked it more towards the end than I did in the beginning. I know I sound like I'm not a fan of this one, but I actually am despite the "lower numerical score". There's some depth and complexity to this one.

Had Oktober Fuel poured from 12-oz. can, bottom stamped (apparently) canned on "07/24/20," gift from new friend, into seidel.

This is a beautiful amber-gold beer with a light-tan head, which delivers sweet malt and Noble hop aromas and flavors, and an effective drying finish.

Clear copper-hued body with a very nice thick and creamy head. Lots of fruity esters in the smell; very little malt or grain notes. More malt presence in the taste yet still fairly low-key; light caramel; fairly strong hop bitterness; toasted grain notes appear after the beer warms a bit. Medium body; slightly warm; decent residual sugar presence; crisp; fairly dry overall.

This beer grows and develops into its style as it sits and warms up in the glass (I poured it with an initial serving temperature of around 50° F). It is tasty enough and satisfying enough.

Can dated 7/18/19. Sam Adams glass.

A: Pours an ever so slightly hazed dark copper-orange with a finger of sandy head that fades quickly into a ring at the edge of the glass. A few lazy bubbles stream upward.

S: smells caramelly, slightly dried-fruit, like dates or raisins. A little lager yeast smell. Tootsie rolls.

T: rich, malty arrival. You get a little of that caramel, but mostly a rich and bready malt. Right at the swallow you get the touch of that sweet date, fig, plum sweetness, then a nice clean hop bitterness to clean out the finish. Hops linger just a bit. Hoppy for the style, but within bounds.

M: very well attenuated for such a malty beer. Palate and finish are remarkably clean for the style.

O: this is the second Marzen of the season, after Sierra Nevada, and I like this better. Slightly sweeter, slightly hoppier, more dried fruit, less malt complexity than SN. SN is probably cleaner than this, but this is really clean for a Marzen. I heartily endorse this one.
