This imperial cream ale is a holdover from last year's Crumb Cake Coffee Cream Ale, but we switched up the coffee. Starting with a 9.5% imperial cream ale with lactose, we've added a medium roast coffee from local roasters Kidd Coffee. Light in color, big in body, this delicious coffee ale delivers a smooth and drinkable cream ale with bold roast and light nutty and berry notes.

At the barrel house.
Pours a clear golden color. No head to speak of.
Strong coffee flavor but not overpowering.
Sweet finish.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a narrow collar around the edge and a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of coffee beans are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of coffee along with hints of lactose.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a smooth mouthfeel with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has nice aromas and flavors of coffee with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel.

Ordered from Tavour, chilled, and poured into an imperial pint glass.

Look: Cloudy yellow with a one finger white head that dissipated and left behind a nice layer of foam that clung to the glass as we drank.
Smell: Malty up front, a little booze, and then very light day-old coffee trailing on the end.
Taste: Light day old coffee up front, heavy booze, almost sweet ethanol that lingers, with some malt.
Feel: Light to medium body, smooth, super light tickle of carbonation probably because the higher ABV doesn’t hold the bubbles as well.

Overall: Not sure what we expected from this one but we love the creativity at Braxton Labs. If you like boozy day old coffee then this is the beer for you.
